There’s nothing worse than being too hot or too cold at work. Unfortunately, office temperatures are often out of our control. If you find yourself constantly fidgeting with the thermostat, there are a few things you can do to stay comfortable throughout the day.
Dress in Layers
If you’re dressing for the weather outside, you may inadvertently make your office too hot or too cold. Layers are always a good idea, so you can adjust to the temperature as needed. Having a bundle of clothes on is a good temporary heating solution. If your office is too hot, simply remove extra layers of clothing. If your office is too cold, pack extra jackets to help keep you warm.
Consider a Portable Heater
A small personal fan or space heater can be a lifesaver on days when the office temperature is less than ideal. Just be sure to get permission from your boss before plugging anything in. Additionally, be considerate of your co-workers when using a space heater. You don’t want to make the office any more uncomfortable than it already is! In addition, some older office spaces might not be able to support a personal heater.
If all else fails, consider packing a space blanket for emergencies. According to Safety+Health magazine, once the body’s internal temperature drops to 95 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, hypothermia occurs. A portable heater or space blanket is one of the best ways to avoid this sudden drop and can provide temporary heating.
Drink Lots of Water
Drinking water helps regulate body temperature, so you’ll be less likely to feel too hot or too cold. It’s also important to stay hydrated if you’re working outdoors, such as at an outdoor event. Staying hydrated can help prevent dehydration, dizziness, and even serious conditions such as heat stroke.
Take Breaks
Step away from your workstation for a few minutes if you’re feeling too hot or too cold. Go for a walk, get a drink of water, or just take a few deep breaths. Sometimes, all it takes is a short break to help. You can also ask your boss to provide a temporary heating solution such as a heater to make your workstation warm.
By dressing in layers, investing in a personal heater, drinking lots of water, and taking breaks, you can stay comfortable no matter what the temperature is like in your office. Contact Total Construction Rentals today to learn more about temporary hearing solutions.
